Intro to iPod

Click, click, click said my IPod, causing my heart to sink. The thought of shelling out another $300 for a new IPod seemed less than appealing, especially since it's a year old. My constant companion of ten months was in critical condition and I felt helpless. I'm like that guy from the commercial, you know, the one who works with monkeys. So as soon as I'm away from my desk, I plug the phones in my ears to avoid the unwanted chimp chat. The thought of facing the remainder of the work week sans podcasts was awful, with the words of Col. Kurtz echoing in my head, "The horror, the horror!"

I was well out of warranty, but the built-in obsolescence of this device seemed to come on too early. I was feeling cantankerous and decided the best bet for my money would be to send in to Apple for repair. I expected to get raked over the coals for this repair charge, dreading the $100 it was going to cost to fix. My emotional state progressed from a little heartache to outright fury, the expletives would have made a sailor blush. I hit the back button on my browser, thinking I had mistakenly chosen to repair a **** iBook. Nope, there it was, Apple wanted a whopping $255 to fix this thing! That's just highway robbery, Apple was basically flipping me the bird, suggesting that I would be better off to buy a new model. I was steamed! I kicked around the cat, devised a plan and felt better.
