LocationFree TV |
Basically, the Sonyâ??s LocationFree TV is a wireless LCD monitor with a base station that transmits your TV signals to it. It comes in two parts, the Base Station and the Monitor. The Base Station sits with all your other home video electronics and the Monitor is the LCD panel that you carry with you.
The Base Station has dual-band wireless which means you donâ??t have to worry about other wireless devices interfering with your reception. In addition to wireless connectivity to the monitor it can also connect to the Monitor over the internet. This means not only can you watch TV around the house, you can also bring it to any place where there is an internet connection and watch TV. This could be your office or at your closest Starbucks. The Base Station has three video inputs, two RCA inputs and one cable input. To control your other electronics, it uses an IR Blaster which basically imitates your remote controls for those devices.
The Monitor is a touch screen LCD and can watch TV, surf the web, send and receive email, and view pictures. It has connections for Ethernet, headphones and video in. The Monitor has four connection options with the Base Station. When at home it can connect through your LAN or wirelessly. On the go it can connect using ethernet based broadband or wirelessly to a WiFi hotspot. |
