Introduction

When it comes to competitive gaming, any serious gamer can tell you that speakers just donâ??t cut it. Nowadays with sophisticated game engines and EAX integrated sound, players without a good set of headphones can find it difficult to take advantage of rich in-game audio. Having the right set of headphones can mean the difference between accurately hearing your opponentâ??s footsteps and walking into a trap.

For almost a year after I started competing online in first person shooter games, I used the Plantronics Audio 90 Headset. It was a great headset, and you definitely canâ??t beat its price, but I found the sound quality seriously lacking. Teammates of mine could hear things my headphones wouldnâ??t even register, and because of that I decided it was time for me to look into some alternatives.

After months of research, I finally decided to purchase the Altec Lansing AHS-502 Headset.  This purchase was made for several reasons, namely recommendations from others and a good set of features. I made the purchase in hopes of replacing my old Plantronics but until I was satisfied that the upgrade was in fact an improvement, I would be keeping my old pair at the readyâ?Š
