â?ŠThe AI is intelligent, but not THAT intelligent.  They are slightly smarter than BF1942â??s AI, so you wonâ??t see your pilot of your aircraft suddenly bail out while you are manning a gun turret.  There are controls (F1 through F4) that easily tell soldiers around you to move out, hold a position, follow you, or if you are in a vehicle, to get in or bail out.  These commands really work (unlike BF1942).  However, as said earlier, the AI is not the best, so you will occasionally see a wookie go David and the Goliath against an AT-AT or AT-ST with a bowcaster instead of being smart and using the time bombs he has in his kit. 
That said, the AI DOES man turrets to take down vehicles.  Direct combat with some AI units does reveal some flaws, as any AI controlled unit will a fourth of the time stand still and be shot at if you are shooting from a long range unless it can see the whites of your eyes (well, unless you are 50 feet away from it or so).  Also, with vehicles such as the AT-AT, which are mobile spawn points, some AI choose to lose the career of a soldier and take on the life of a pancake by huddling close to the massive feet of the AT-AT.  This is only occasional, so you may get a few team kills when you are piloting an AT-AT.
